The Eleventh edition of the Chiltern Wonderland 50 kicks off on Saturday 19th September at 0830 from the banks of the river Thames in Goring. Our third 50 miler of the year and a firm favourite with the true trail connoisseurs. It's undulating route through the beautiful Chiltern countryside is a classic, visiting quiet valleys, stunning vistas, remote farms and tiny villages.
The starting field will as always, sit at 250. The race has sold out in every one of its 11 editions and the intimate nature of the course and the locations mean that it has a special atmosphere. Something precious that we want to retain.
Below, a look at the likely leading contenders for the overall positions. Of our two, ten time consecutive finishers, only Luigi Fumero returns with Vince Darley bowing out as he is travelling. Luigi's ever presence here will go on.... for now!
Last years course records from both Joe Turner (6:18) and Julia Davis (7:13) look hard to beat, but with conditions looking excellent with the dry summer and temperatures cooling off, will we see them go down?

WOMEN
Robyn Cassidy - Montane (ITRA: 701): The stand out athlete in the field. Robyn enjoyed an incredible second place at this years South Downs Way 100, crossing the line in third place in 15:59 - the third fastest all time run on that course. That followed a fourth place at the internationally renowned TransGranCanaria 125km in March of this year - a duo of results which puts her second in the 2026 World Trail Majors Rankings. A previous winner of the Dragon's Back, Lakeland 100 and second place finisher at the Spine, Robyn is no stranger to very long and very mountainous races. But she runs well over shorter distances too.

Lynne Nicholls (ITRA: 615): A bit of a specialist at 50km to 50 mile races, Lynne was second at Hundred Hills 50km this year before winning the GB Ultras Pennine Barrier 50 mile in May.
Ally Whitlock ITRA: 595): Over 10 years, Ally has finished in the top 5 at almost every different race we organise. From Hundred Hills 50km through to Winter Downs 200. Two remain. The South Downs Way 50km where she was 7th this year. And this one - where she has a best finish of 9th on the way to a Grand Slam 50 finish in 2024.

Camilla Mitchell (ITRA: 553): The 2023 Race to the Stones Champion, Camilla finished fifth at the Hundred Hills 50km in 2025, second at the North Chilterns 50km in October of that year. This year she secured 13th at the highly competive SDW50km and was second in her age category too.
Hannah Green (ITRA: 550): Fifth here last year, Hannah finished on the podium of the 2024 South Downs Way 100 - a truly stand out result.
MEN
Jack Oates (ITRA: 800): Jack has mixed up competing at the top end of British ultra, with some fine international performances against world class fields. He was fourth at the inaugural South Downs Way 50km in June of 2025. Last year he also finished 9th at Istria by UTMB 69km, 8th at TransLantau by UTMB 50km and this year ran home 7th at Tarawera 50km down in New Zealand.
Dominic Jones (ITRA: 713): Dominic was second at the Autumn 100 in 2024 before a stellar 11th place at the 2025 Spartathlon. This year he is back on form with an eighth place finish at South Downs Way 100 in June, again under the 16 hour mark.

Richard Strong (ITRA: 704): Richard won our North Downs Way 50 in May dipping just under the 7 hour barrier. It's great to see a returning champion in the field.
Jack Grover (ITRA: 690): Fifth at Wendover Woods 50 last November and 10th at the Serpent Trail 100km last summer.
Dave Jones (ITRA: 652): Top ten finishes at Wendover Woods 50 last November and North Downs Way 50 this past May.
